The weekend ends on a sad note,

The frontman of The Cars, Ric Ocasek was found dead on Sunday…just days after the death of Eddie Money. According to Page Six, Ocasek was “discovered unconscious and unresponsive” in his New York City apartment Sunday afternoon by his estranged wife, Paulina Porizkova. The report states that he appears to have died of natural causes. Ocasek formed the Cars in Boston in 1976 with bassist and singer Benjamin Orr, (who died in 2000 at the age of 53), guitarist Elliot Easton, keyboardist Greg Hawkes and drummer David Robinson. It was just April of last year that The Cars were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, with Ric Ocasek doing the lead vocals at their induction ceremony performance. Ocasek was the main contributor to writing the Cars songs. I’ve chosen to go back to the official video of their huge hit “My Best Friend’s Girl” which Ocasek sang lead on and wrote, …rest in peace Ric. ~ Ron
