Just like the Treasure Valley, technology continues to “explode”…you blink, and some item is outdated! And in some cases, you just don’t have a choice when it comes to “staying up to date”, especially when it comes to computers! When you rely on them for more than just browsing the internet etc., there comes a time when even though your computer might still be “working”, you reach the end of the road where software is no longer going to work, or you can’t even update to the next operating system. And that’s exactly what I hit this week…and I had to bite the bullet, and get a new computer. There was time when something being 12 years old WAS NOT outdated…but that was then, this is now, ugh. I bought my current iMac new…mid 2007, 20″ 2.0 Ghz Core 2 Duo, with a whopping 250 gb hard drive, and other than replacing the power supply a few years back, it’s been a trouble free ride. But, out with the old, in with the new…say hello to my 2019 iMac, 21.5″, with Retina 4K display…3.0 Ghz 6-Core Intel Core i5 (w/Turbo boost up to 4.1 Ghz), 1 TB Fusion drive. The difference between this new iMac and my 2007 is amazing…basically like driving a Pinto, then jumping into a Shelby GT 500 Mustang!
