I met Vinne Paul once, May 19th 2004 in Albuquerque, NM with his band Damageplan. I hadn’t thought about it for a while so I don’t really have a cool story to add, him and his brother Dimebag Darrell were super nice. It was in an alley behind a venue called the Sunshine Theatre.
A few months later the guitarist was shot on stage. Bizarre. He was a huge classic rock fan. He had a tattoo of Ace Frehley on his chest and the two became friends.
Eddie Van Halen was at Dimebag\’s funeral and Dimebag was buried with Eddie\’s guitar shown on the back of Van Halen II. Pantera toured with Black Sabbath, drank with Sammy Hagar, befriended Poison, hung with Great White and Vinnie Paul was notorious for bringing his grill on tour and cooking for the bands after shows and always supporting music when bands came through town.
