Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band played a legendary three-night residency at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey, from September 19 to 21, 1978, during the Darkness on the Edge of Town Tour.
These small-theater shows were the last of their kind that the band would ever play in the Northeast, serving as a homecoming gift to local New Jersey fans. The opening night on September 19, 1978, originally broadcast on local radio, became the source of Piece de Resistance—widely regarded as the most famous Bruce Springsteen bootleg of all time—before being officially released in the live archive series
