Some amazing AIC covers

The Museum Of Pop Culture honored Alice in Chains this year and for a virtual celebration some bands and super groups turned in covers. These turnned out way better that I expected and Dave Navarro can wear anything and get away with it. Here are some of my favorites but I’m still combing through the full video.

Ann Wilson – “Rooster”.
She and her sister from Heart appeared on the Alice in Chains SAP EP in 1992 and Alice In Chains recorded albums at a recording studio in Seattle owned by Ann and Nancy Wilson, Bad Animals.

Mastodon – “Again”
I can’t believe a band this heavy can sound so much like Alice in Chains, did not see this coming.

Korn – “Would?”
Written as a tribute to Andrew Wood from the band “Mother Love Bone”, most Seattle bands from the 90’s say they were the 1st “grunge” band.  Again I’m impressed how well their cover is, I wasn’t a huge fan of the Pink Floyd cover they released so this caught me off guard. (The breakdown at 2:52 makes the hair on my neck stand up)

Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses) & Shooter Jennings (Waylon’s son) – “Down In A Hole”
Duff plays bass, guitar & drums?  Well now I know.

Corey Taylor (Slipknot/Stone Sour), Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction/Red Hot Chili Peppers), Chris Chaney (Jane’s Addiction/Alanis Morissette) and Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters) – “Man In The Box”
Dave’s solo at 3:00 is almost note for note with the original version.  Impressive, he could do his own thing but he sticks with the cover.

They also did a Pink Floyd cover that I enjoyed…

And Led Zeppelin! – Forrest
