I’m not a pot kinda guy. As far as if it should be legal or not, I’d probably vote yes. It’s just not for me. That aside, I’ve come up with the perfect 4:20 playlist for this Friday.
#1 Steppenwolf – “The Pusher”
This has to be # 1. Iconic. I still want a chopper just because of Easy Rider.
#2 Toby Keith – \”I\’ll Never Smoke Weed With Willie Again\”
A Bob & Tom favorite. Still hilarious every time I hear it.
# 3 The Outlaws – \”Green Grass and High Tides\”
According to the lead singer this song is NOT about marijuana but dead rock stars. It\’s on my list anyway because it sounds like a stoner song.
#5 Green Day – \”Basket Case\”
Am I paranoid or am I just stoned?
Black Sabbath – \”Sweet Leaf\”
I love Black Sabbath, almost as much as I love Led Zeppelin which is coming up next. This is 1971 and they\’re singing about pot, that\’s 41 years before Colorado and Washington become the first two states to legalize recreational cannabis.
#7 Led Zeppelin – \”Going To California\” Honestly I never thought of this as a pot song because by the end of the song I forget the opening line. Plant makes sure you know what he\’s talking about in this live video from 1975.
#7 – Jimi Hendrix – \”Stoned playing a 12 string guitar\”
I mean come on, it\’s Jimi.
#8 Bob Dylan – Rainy Day Women #12 & 35
Usually bands name a song after it\’s chorus. Not Bob Dylan. He was so stoned he couldn\’t even name his song correctly.
