Same day, years apart. Kurt Cobain from Nirvana: April 5th, 1994 in Seattle from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. Layne Staley from Alice In Chains: April 5th, 2002 in Seatlle from a drug overdose. Here are my 2 favorite songs from each band. I hope you dig ’em. – Forrest
The first was called “Verse Chorus Verse” on a complination album called “No Alternative” but Nirvana had an earlier song of the same name so it became “Sappy” and was included in the 20th Anniversary release of “In Utero” and on the deluxe reissue of Nevermind along with a few other compliations.
The Alice in Chains song is off of the album \”Jar of Flies\” in 1994. It was…haunting. The band released a 7 song EP of mostly acoustic sounding songs at their peak. Strange decision for band coming hot off the success of \”Man In The Box\”. Although this song doesn\’t feature Layne, it makes me think of him.
