On this Day: Randy Rhoads

Randy Rhoads 12/6/56 – 3/19/82

On this day, March 19th 1982, the sound of rock and roll would change with the sudden death of Randy Rhoads. The Quiet Riot founder and guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne would go on to co-write classic rock staples such as “Crazy Train” and “Mr. Crowly” before a plane crash would take his life at just 24 years old.

In an August 1982 phone interview with Jas Obrecht of Guitar Player Magazine Ozzy says of Rhoads:

“The guy was so unique. I don’t think people have ever fully realized what a talent that guy was, not only in rock and roll, but in every other field, you know.”

Today, break out your copy of ‘Blizzard of Ozz’ and pour a glass of Anisette in Randy’s memory.
