So I have an account on the music streaming app called Rdio which is pretty cool. I can listen to 96.9 The Eagle on it, single songs, full albums, build my own playlists, or have it pick songs based on what I’m listening to. People always want to know what DJ’s are listening to when we’re not on the air so here you go, my most listened to albums this week.
Lama Tashi – “Tibetan Master Chants”. This I was just curious about and then couldn’t stop listening to it. I recently did a 1 hour sensory deprivation tank so that just got me thinking about monks and how they never seem to be shooting up movie theaters or getting hard drives confiscated. Might be something to it.
Sweet – “Desolation Boulevard”. I just learned that David Bowie co-wrote “Take A Walk On The Wild Side” and also wrote “All The Young Dudes” so I’ve been on a Glam Rock kick this week. Sweet is always my go-to band.
Bullet For My Valentine – “Venom” (Deluxe Edition). I love hard rock. This band is one of the best and they are in town this weekend. I might check them out plus this album just dropped last week.
Hank Williams III – “Lovesick Broke & Driftin'”. This album rules and is a complete throw back to his Grandfather. I get chills when he does his whiny, voice-croaking, twang because he sounds just like him. I just picture bar fights, heartbreaks, stand-up basses, tattoos and hangovers. Love it. This is a total guilty pleasure and Hank III is in a great metal band called Superjoint Ritual where he plays bass with Phil Anselmo from Pantera. He’s basically rock and country royalty at the same time. This is real country. Not Steven Tyler or Hootie & The Blowfish country.
