So, here at The Eagle, we’re all diving in to this whole “blog” thing. Hey, could be fun…I’ll try and make it that with my blogs…just not today!

I’m gone next week on vacation,  so my brain is nearly out the door today…you know how that works, right!?

Alright, the new Van Halen “Toyko Dome Live in Concert” is now fully out there…and some REAL mixed reviews/thoughts on it. Former front man for the band, Sammy Hagar commented, “They’ve got some pretty rough vocals”…then when on to just blurt it out, “What the *%$&! are these guys thinking?” I tend to agree…sorry to piss off you real David Lee Roth die-hards, just my opinion!

Being a Van Halen fan…of both the David Lee AND Sammy era’s…I’m a bit torn on this live album, as well as the upcoming tour. Why the hell didn’t they put out a live album with Roth, back in the days when they were in their prime!? I am a HUGE fan of “live” Lps…but I have to admit, I’ve heard enough of this new one, and for me…it doesn’t justify spending the $ to buy the CD/LP sets…or to even download the full thing on iTunes. It’s great to see Eddie back, looking much healthier than in the past (and sure hope to hell he stays with it!), and ripping the guitar again, but It’s been a good number of years since Roth really still “had it”. And he’s trying WAY to hard to add in…what doesn’t need to be added. We know you’re older Dave (ok, WAY older)…but just go ahead and sing the tunes best as you can…drop the show boating, and “hey everyone, look at me…look, look…”, but then again, that’s Dave. I saw (and met) Van Halen twice, during the Sammy Hagar days…and man, those concerts absolutely ROCKED! Even though I never did see a show with Roth…oh well, guess I never will.
