Today, Sunday September 15, Ric Ocasek was found unresponsive in his New York apartment by, according to source, his estranged wife Paulina Porizkova.  He was, depending on your source, 70 or 75, and at this point it is reported he died of natural causes.  How important were The Cars?  Well, they won the first ever Video Of The Year at the first MTV Music Awards, and that was 8 years after they’re first album.  Great lyrics, great hooks, and great vocals, whether sung  by Benjamin Orr or Ric. Not to sound corny (but I’m going to), if there is a Rock & Roll Heaven, the band just got a whole lot better.
