Former Fleetwood Mac’s Danny Kirwan Passes

Danny Kirwan passed away last Friday.  If you’re a long time Fleetwood Mac fan, that name is familiar to you.  He was in the band from 1968 to 1972.  He also did work outside Fleetwood Mac.  Danny came to the attention of Peter Green, and through certain circumstances, was invited to join Fleetwood Mac by Mick Fleetwood.  The band became a 5 piece band, with THREE guitar players…..Peter, Danny, and Jeremy Spencer.  And although the other band members were skeptical of Danny’s joining the band, Micks decision proved to be the correct one.  Danny’s first major contribution was to Peter’s song, Albatross.  Green later said “I would never have done Albatross If it wasn’t for Danny”.  The guitar work from all three players on this tune is incredible.  Danny did do work away form Fleetwood Mac, but Albatross is a wonderful was to remember such a talented musician.  The video is below, best enjoyed through headphones or earbuds.  PS:  What song by The Beatles does this sound like?
